about Positive Living and Wellbeing Group

We are a grassroots organisation supporting vulnerable South Asian women & children in the Midlands.

Our Mission Statement

We will work to tackle Violence Against Women and Children by accommodating, supporting and empowering them.  We will provide activities to address isolation and depression and to promote positive mental health & wellbeing.

Positive Living & Wellbeing Group is a South Asian grassroots Community Interest Company that is based in the West Midlands.  We have over 10 years of experience of providing culturally specific services to support victims of Forced Marriages, Honour Based violence, Domestic Abuse and Child Sexual Exploitation. We were instrumental in setting up the first West Midlands Forced Marriage & Honour Based Violence helpline, that was funded by the West Midlands Police & Crime Commissioner.

We have worked with statutory partners, schools, colleges, private and third sector organisations to deliver workshops to raise awareness of the different forms of abuse and exploitation.  Our workshops focus on Healthy Relationships; identifying the different forms of abuse, including highlighting the additional barriers faced by South Asian families; the negative impact of living in an abusive environment; how to identify changes in behaviour if a child was being exploited; how to support and keep your children safe and where to seek help and support to leave an abusive relationship/environment.

We have fed into both National and West Midlands policies that shape the support available to victims of abuse. We were a key contributor in the national Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.

We use our experience to ensure our work is focussed on supporting, empowering women and children to live in an environment which is free from abuse. We equip our service users with the tools they need for the road to recovery with a healthy empowered mindset and practical support.
